How to Package Your Interior Design Services

A vital piece of running your interior design business is packaging and pricing your services. Whether you’re pricing interior design services or virtual design services (or both, like us!) we wanna cover a few structures you can use.

But first, why is it important to have a pricing structure?

When it comes time to have a discovery call with a potential client, you don’t want to get choked up on the pricing! Having a structure that you use will make sure you know what to charge and can confidently state your prices. It also helps your client stay organized and make an informed decision.

Option 1: Hourly

A simple way to price your services is hourly. You can provide services and invoice on a weekly, semi-weekly, or monthly basis. Use a tool like Toggl to keep track of your time and a platform like Wave or your business bank to invoice. Or, you can get fancier with a platform like Dubsado, that handles so much for your business admin processes. Use this affiliate link for 20% off your first month or year.

Option 2: bundles

You can also bundle hours together to offer a discount. For example, if your hourly rate is $100, you can offer 20 hours for $1600 instead of $2000. This gives an incentive to your clients to book more work with you!

Option 3: Monthly packages

Another great option is a monthly package. This gives your clients a set number of hours each month for ongoing projects. You can discount these packages, too. It offers an incentive for clients to keep you on retainer, and gives you the benefit of regular work.

Option 4: Project rates

You can also offer a project rate, which is where you’ll quote one price for one type of project, regardless of how many hours it takes. This is a good option if you’re quick at working on a high-value project, and know about how long it will take you each time. Let’s say it takes you 30 minutes to do a project for your client that is worth thousands to their business. You won’t want to charge for a half an hour of your time, but rather for the project.

3d model & rendering

This is custom-quoted based on the project specifics. We’ll schedule an intro call to go over the project deets. Set up an inquiry form and call scheduler on a tool like Dubsado to streamline this process. The easier it is for your client to find and book their intro call, the more likely they are to get on the phone with you and you can sell your services!

autocad

This can be charged hourly, by bundle or by project. If you do charge by project you will want to make sure to get all the details up front so you know how long it will take you to draw everything up, the goal here is to not loose money. So set up parameters of what is included in fixed fee.

admin

This is often a lower price point, since it’s not using design skills or software. You can easily price admin work on an hourly, bundle, or monthly.
